The Social and Solidarity Economy in the Pursuit of Gender Equity. Volume II.: Experiences of Popular and Community-Based Economies from a Gender Perspective

This book is a collaborative work that explores the intersection between the social and solidarity economy (SSE) and gender equity. It brings together fourteen articles that examine how women and other feminized identities participate in the SSE, highlighting the obstacles they face in this field as well as the opportunities to advance toward greater equity.
The authors analyze how, despite the SSE being founded on principles of equality and social justice, patriarchal dynamics and gender inequalities persist in its daily practice. The study focuses on experiences from Latin America and Spain, emphasizing both internal resistance within SSE entities and the structural challenges in the global socio-economic context.
The book is organized into three thematic sections that address: the relationship between labor and gender in the SSE, grassroots and community experiences from a gender perspective, and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sustainability of life. Through these studies, the two volumes offer a critical and relevant contribution to the discussion on the role of the SSE in building more just and equitable societies.
