Child Sexual Abuse: Fundamental Concepts and Practical Approaches
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the short-term effects of the Protective School Contexts program: A new alternative against child sexual abuse. Although the program was designed as a strategy to be applied in person at schools, to the entire educational community, this was not possible because the pandemic began at the beginning of the study. The modifications that were included in the application are related to virtuality, instead of face-to-face and the application of the program only to the adult population, because virtuality prevented access to some children and also to the group, which of course constitutes in program objective. The activities were adapted to virtuality and the application was made to the groups of parents, on the one hand, and to the teachers and directors, on the other, of each of the 2 private educational institutions that participated in this study. The results showed that the population of parents and teachers, respond 90% adequately to the pre survey of false beliefs and 100% in the post application. These results show how the subject is not unknown to these populations and its dissemination in written or virtual media has allowed people to have accurate knowledge on the subject. However, the most interesting data focuses on the qualitative information that allowed both teachers and parents to learn many strategies for their own lives and the protection of their loved ones. In conclusion, it can be highlighted that the application of the program opened discussion scenarios and generated a suitable space for the issue to be aired and begin to filter into the daily lives of families.
