Psychology and decoloniality: Knowledge to heal in palenques and quilombos (Colombia-Brazil)
It is a text that is the product of research, which apprehends other realities and ways of life, by expanding the possibilities in the construction of knowledge. From a perspective committed to the stakes of the palenquera, afro-descendant and quilombola communities, contributing to the process of decolonizing Psychology. We contribute to ethnic-racial debates, identifying other ways of doing research and building knowledge on social problems such as racism, discrimination, whitewashing, sexism and the uprooting of wisdom. Faced with the preeminence of egemonic discourses of science, and against the grain of the whitening logic of the psychosocial canon, we are committed to the articulation and visibility of afro-descendant authors in our theoretical dialogues.
We present an account of decolonial contributions in the psychological field. We reflect on the historicity of afro-diasporic resistance of african peoples subjected to colonial enslavement; and we propose an intersectional and multidimensional proposal to think about the ways of life in Colombia and Brazil. We approach the particularities of the palenques in Colombia, the afro-descendant communities San Cristóbal and San Basilio de Palenque in Montes de María, making visible the ways of life and the historical-cultural and spiritual dimensions. Also to the quilombos in Brazil as socio-political formations quilombolas of the wild in the semi-arid region of Alagoas, in particular the Pau D’arco and Tabacaria communities. On these four communities we share the analyzes of the community mapping of knowledge to heal, based on field work in Colombia and Brazil. This effort adds to the reflection and visibility of the stories little or nothing told (Curiel, 2009). As well as cosmogony and other philosophies, particularly African ones. Without ignoring the indigenous and european, who have nurtured us for decades. Reflections that allow us to contribute to the decolonization of Psychology.
