Formative research as a tool for building a university model
A university model is developed from formative research (IF, IF, by its acronym in Spanish), traditionally limited to teaching practices. This means that FI serves as an object of study to address the basic functions of the university as an organization: teaching, research, extension and social projection, administrative and financial efforts. It is approached as an extreme and longitudinal case study, in which the academic productions of the last two decades function as punctual traces of how the institution has been intervened, with the purpose of transforming it into an organization that develops complex knowledge about the regional context. In this task, the author of this book participated -from the bottom- as a professor, and contributed, at different times and in different roles, to achieve this task: to build a university model that guides the construction of such knowledge in practice. Later, with the processes of readjustment of the institution at the national level, this function of the model is displaced and reduced to its minimum expression. In this framework, where several approaches operate in the institutional objective world, as it is a singular social experience, here we seek to identify the lessons learned and, in particular, to develop a model that offers satisfactory answers to the challenges that the university has been facing, especially those related to processes of knowledge delocalization in the context of cognitive capitalism. Thus, it is divided into a first part that documents the ontogenesis of these ideas; a second part in which the stages of construction of the model are exposed; to culminate evaluating its role as a framework that guides the processes of social intervention. Aware of the organizational possibilities that this model enhances, a quarter is provided in which new concepts such as abdiction and the university as a retroactive organization are sketched, which aim to contribute in the enrichment of an organizational Participatory Action Research built from the University, glocal, collective and human.
