Schoolchild’s Dental Record Manual

This book aims to facilitate the process of preparing the dental record of child patients in the Schools of Dentistry and other service institutions, in addition to being a support for Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry graduates from any university. The dentist plays a critical role in establishing diagnosis and treatment for the schoolchild patient; to reach an adequate diagnosis, it is necessary to obtain both data for a dental record and changes that allow conducting the treatment, as well as to understand that the role model in the child’s or preteen’s environment makes them successfully adapt to the needs of the treatment with the dentist’s help. Preparation of the dental record is the first contact the dentist has with the patient, and good knowledge thereof is critical; otherwise, a significant interpersonal barrier may arise. The greater this knowledge is, the higher the possibilities of achieving good results.

This manual guides the student in completing records and their annexes and facilitates the research process since it improves standardization of patient data collection and allows the obtaining of morbidity statistics. The book shows how the patient’s dental record and medical examination are carried out; then, it continues to describe each item comprising the record and allowing for a proper diagnosis of a growing patient.
